Sports Media Members Mourn Death of Ryan Mallett

Football fans were shocked to learn of the tragic death of former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett on Tuesday. He reportedly drowned while in Florida.

Mallett was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was one of the many potential successors to Tom Brady. He spent two seasons in Foxboro, followed by two seasons in Houston and three in Baltimore.

His real impact was felt in college. While he started his career at Michigan, he transferred to Arkansas after his freshman season. He started 26 games for the Razorbacks, leading them to two bowl appearances and earning All-SEC honors both years he played there.

Sports media members from around the country took to social media to share memories and ask for his family to find some peace.

The news of Ryan Mallett’s death hit Arkansas particularly hard. Members of the sports media in that state shared their thoughts as well.

In addition to being a legendary Hog, he was also a native of Batesville. Following his playing career, Mallett returned to the state to coach football at White Hall High School.
