Joe Benigno Hosting Afternoons This Week on WFAN

With the departure of Craig Carton from WFAN, the station will take the next three weeks to gradually transition its new station lineup, which is set to take full effect on July 24. In the meantime, Joe Benigno will be making a return to the air to host afternoons, he announced Monday morning on Twitter. Benigno will be on the air with Roberts on Wednesday and Friday of this week from 2 to 6:30 p.m. EST. On Thursday, he will host the afternoon program solo.

Benigno previously hosted overnights on WFAN beginning in 1995 and was ultimately moved to middays nearly a decade later alongside Sid Rosenberg. After Rosenberg left the station in 2005, Benigno hosted solo until he was paired with Evan Roberts. He and Roberts built formidable on-air chemistry and continued hosting together until Roberts moved to host afternoons with Carton upon his return from the station in 2020. Benigno retired from WFAN in November 2020, but returned to host a weekend program with Roberts during football season and occasionally filled in.

It remains to be seen as to how WFAN will navigate its afternoon time slot until the launch of Evan & Tiki.
