Sactown Sports has a brand new midday show. Kevin “Whitey” Gleason and Chris Watkins are teaming up to form Whitey & Watkins. The show will air weekdays from 10a-2p PT.
“We are thrilled to pair Whitey & Watkins together,” said Sactown Sports Program Director Brian Gebhardt. “Whitey’s expertise in the radio business combined with a rising star like Chris Watkins is a duo that has tremendous potential.”
Whitey joins the station after spending several years at 95.7 The Game in San Francisco. He was recently working part time for the station but was part of the station’s initial morning show The Rise Guys in 2011. Gleason helped build the Rise Guys brand and establish himself as a top sports personality in Sacramento on KHTK 1140 from 1989-2011. He later spent a few years at ESPN 1320 as well.
“It is great to be back home doing what I love at a time when the Sacramento sports scene is beaming,” said Gleason.
Gleason’s new midday partner Chris Watkins is a Sacramento native with a strong passion for the hometown scene. He has been serving as the host of Chris & Co since the departure of Deuce and Mo earlier this year. In less than a year, Watkins has gone from earning fill-in opportunities to hosting a daily 1-hour show to now working 4-hours per day alongside Gleason.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to bring my passion for Sacramento sports to the city that I love and grew up in,” added Watkins.
The new program is scheduled to debut on Monday, July 10th.
