The flagship station for University of Texas athletics is dropping its sports format on August 1.
Genuine Austin Radio announced KTXX-FM, 104.9 The Horn, will no longer be a sports station. Radio Insight reporting indicated that the future of the programming on the frequency, as well as the sports talk staff, is unclear.

Sports talk programming will remain in the Austin area on 1260 KTAE and 101.9 and still cary “The Horn” moniker. There will be a mix of national and local sports talk and will continue to carry Texas Rangers baseball.
The Horn had been the flagship station for Longhorn athletics since 2016.
