A brand new baseball season hasn’t been overly kind to the San Diego Padres. The story is very different though for 97.3 The Fan, the team’s flagship radio station.
The spring ratings book for 2023 saw the station turn in an impressive performance. The Fan was the market’s #1 station with Men 25-54 for the full week (M-SU 6a-Mid) with an 8.0 share. A second place finish came their way as well during weekday prime (M-F 6a-7p) thanks to an 8.1 rating.
Individual shows had much to celebrate too. Leading the way was Gwynn & Chris featuring Tony Gwynn Jr. and Chris Ello in afternoon drive. The show finished first with a 9.0 share for the quarter.
In mornings, Ben & Woods featuring Ben Higgins and Steven Woods took third place with a very strong 8.3 share.
Wrapping up with middays, The John Kentera Show hosted by John Kentera recorded a 5.8 share to secure fourth place in its time slot.
Despite having only one professional sports team, San Diego has three radio stations airing sports programming. Ratings data this quarter for San Diego Sports 760 and The Mightier 1090 was not available.
