SiriusXM host and WFAN legend Chris “Mad Dog” Russo is taking his show on the road to a familiar spot on the Jersey Shore.
In an interview with Dan Patrick on Monday, Mad Dog said he would be doing an upcoming broadcast from Bar Anticipation in Lake Como. Known as “Bar A,” it is also the spot Russo submitted his letter of resignation to WFAN 15 years ago.
“I mailed in my resignation from Bar A on a Thursday night because I did not have a fax machine,” Russo said. “So I went to Bar A because I was at the Jersey Shore to mail in my resignation when I went to Sirius.”
Russo noted that the station was already aware that he was planning to leave his co-hosting gig alongside Mike Francesa. So the letter he faxed from the bar didn’t catch WFAN leadership at the time off guard. He also mentioned that he had to commit to never hosting on ESPN Radio.
“In that letter, I was not allowed to go work at ESPN Radio,” he said. “So in the resignation letter, to get it in, I had to indicate – and I was going to Sirius anyway – that I was not allowed to be on the air at ESPN. So they wanted that ASAP, so that is why I ran to Bar A as I was at the Jersey Shore for the summer, and I got that resignation in. So now I go back for the first time in 15 years.”
Mad Dog will be live at Bar A on Friday, August 4.
