College football season is just around the corner, and as the Pac-12 prepares for its unofficial football kickoff with its upcoming media days, there doesn’t appear to be any more progress made on the conference announcing a new media rights contract.
Yahoo Sports reported Monday that the Pac-12 will not be revealing any details of a new television deal when the conference converges on Las Vegas later this week.
There was a hope that the Pac-12, which has struggled for the last year to gain traction on a new media rights contract, would be able to announce they were near or at the finish line in this process, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Behind the scenes, talks are progressing but not to the point where formal details are in place. Reporting indicated the conference has a general framework for a contract in place, believed to be good for seven years or less.
The Pac-12’s current rights deal expires next July.
