Has human interest reporting from Tom Rinaldi reached its tipping point? 94 WIP host Jon Marks thinks so.
On Wednesday’s edition of Marks & Reese, Marks and co-host Ike Reese were discussing Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts not being featured on the Netflix series Quarterback and who the sports journalist would be to do that kind of human interest piece on the Philly star.
Names like Roy Firestone and Chris Meyers and the old ESPN show Up Close came to mind. Reese said Firestone would’ve had a great conversation with Hurts.
“Roy wanted to ask the deep, burning questions,” he said, admitting he longed for that style of show.
“I miss that,” Reese added. “They were good.”
FOX’s Tom Rinaldi also came to mind, but Marks wasn’t high on Tom and his uncanny ability to tug at your heartstrings with his storytelling and reporting.
“It’s gotten a little bit much with Rinaldi and the dramatic reporting now for FOX,” he said.
