Tucker Carlson’s recent interview with former President Donald Trump has performed exceptionally well on X, formerly Twitter. Charlie Kirk believes the media landscape has shifted because of it.
According to public analytics available on X, the interview between the former Fox News host and former President has received more than 250 million views. However, that figure is skewed due to X’s definition of “views”. A community note claims “views” on X are simply the number of times the video appeared on screen, not actually times the video has been viewed by users.
Nonetheless, Kirk argued that the interview was a smashing success for Carlson and Trump, and pointed to it as proof that things will be different going forward.
“The primary debate on Fox News had around 20M tune in,” Charlie Kirk wrote in a post to X. “10x the views for Trump. The media landscape is forever changed.”
Preliminary numbers for the first 2024 Republican Presidential debate show an average of 12.8 million viewers on Fox News and Fox Business. A report from The Hollywood Reporter claims that if Nielsen television ratings operated under the same standard as X views, the debate would have had 46.8 billion views.
While the “views” statistic is in question on X, the number of reposts, quotes, and likes is not. As of this publication, the interview between Trump and Carlson features nearly 200,000 reposts, featuring an additional nearly 20,000 quotes, and has been liked more than 780,000 times.
