Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather and ABC News President Kim Godwin are among many who will receive prestigious honors at the 44th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards next month.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will induct Rather into its Gold Circle. Joining the longtime newsman are ABC News correspondent John Quiñones and CBS News national security correspondent David Martin.
Joining the organization’s Silver Circle alongside Kim Godwin are ABC News senior national correspondent Steve Osunsami, CBS News producer Rand Morrison, CNBC Senior Vice President of Operations Steve Fastook, Meruelo Media President and CEO Otto Padron, and NBC News editor Thomas Snowden.
“This year’s Gold and Silver honorees are recognized for their phenomenal and continuing contributions to our television industry,” said NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp.
“Their persistent excellence of craft has enabled viewers to be better informed about the issues of the day, even as the character of the news cycle has evolved so markedly over the storied course of their careers. We celebrate the courage of these professionals and salute the vital storytelling they bring to our screens.”
The news of Dan Rather and Kim Godwin’s inductions into the Gold and Silver Circles comes on the heels of the revelation that the organization would honor longtime CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer with a lifetime achievement award.
