Beasley Media Group Files Contract Violation Lawsuit Against Anthony Gargano

A week after being announced as “Coming soon” to the PHLY Sports team, Anthony Gargano has been sued by 97.5 The Fanatic parent company Beasley Media Group for a contract violation.

Attorney and sports law reporter Jason Morrin on Monday night tweeted a screenshot of a civil lawsuit filed by Beasley in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia against both Gargano and PHLY and ALLCITY Network parent company BSN Live Inc.

Gargano isn’t the only person with ties to Philly sports talk radio that was announced. Former 97.5 assistant PD Eric “Coach” Camille, former hosts Devon Givens and Jamie Lynch and Bill Matz, formerly of 94WIP, have all been hired.

AllPhly is part of the AllCity Network, which launched in 2014 and has expanded from its home base in Denver to Phoenix and Chicago before opening in Philadelphia.

Reporting last week in the Philadelphia Business Journal indicated that talks to bring Gargano into the fray at PHLY Sports and getting the outlet off the ground has been a year in the making. Gargano was introduced to AllCity VP of content Ryan Koenigsberg through an investor. Anthony was credited by AllCity CEO Brandon Spano as being instrumental in PHLY launching.

Spano was quoted in the story saying they’re working to figure out how to get Gargano in the mix given his contract situation with Beasley. A breach of contract lawsuit seemed like an inevitability.

“At the moment we’re trying to determine exactly what that involvement looks like as we navigate his contractual situation with the Beasley Media Group,” Spano said. “And I think the only thing that we can promise is that Anthony will be involved in many aspects. The network and fans will be able to watch him and listen to him. We just don’t know when that will be.”
