The reported romance between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and music superstar Taylor Swift has been the talk of both the football and pop culture worlds for more than two weeks. Hubbard Minneapolis capitalized on the trend with a billboard that went viral ahead of Sunday’s game between the Chiefs and Vikings.
The group’s talk radio station — myTalk 107.1 — showcased a billboard that read “Beat Taylor’s Boyfriend” ahead of the matchup between the Chiefs and Vikings.
Many observers shared their appreciation for the quip, with several national media outlets — including ESPN and The New York Post — taking notice of the billboard.
Commenters on the station’s Facebook page announcing the billboard ranged from congratulation the station for “saying what we’re all thinking” to vowing to never listen to the station again for discussing Taylor Swift in the same breath as the Minnesota Vikings.
Swift’s potential appearance at the matchup was a hot-button issue in Minneapolis last week. Before the game, Vikings radio voice Paul Allen extended an invitation to Swift to appear in the broadcast booth with him. However, Swift was not in attendance as the Chiefs defeated the Vikings.
