The Problem with Jon Stewart on AppleTV+ will not return for its third season after Stewart and the company hit an impasse over what is being called “creative differences”.
Stewart and Apple reportedly had differences over his interests in discussing human rights violations in China and AI. The longtime host and comedian had pondered the topics as subjects for upcoming shows, which Apple executives pushed back against.
The company is one of the leaders in AI technology and also relies upon Chinese labor for the majority of its product manufacturing.
After receiving pushback, Jon Stewart made the decision to end the program “rather than have his hands tied”, according to numerous reports.
According to a report from The New York Times, production on the third season was already underway, with filming yet to commence.
The program hosted by Stewart debuted in 2021 and centered on political issues plaguing the nation.
