Fox News host Sean Hannity has secured the first televised interview with the new Speaker of the House, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA).
Hannity will welcome the new Speaker to his primetime program on Thursday. The interview will air live from the House chamber in Washington D.C.
The Fox News host is expected to question Rep. Johnson on what his agenda will be in his newly elected position.
Johnson was selected after House Republicans spent 22 days deciding on a replacement for Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who was ousted earlier this month.
Hannity and producers of his program came under fire from both politicians and media figures for an email circulating that questioned Congressional Republicans on why they were refusing to support Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the Speakership.
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes argued that Hannity was attempting to “bully” members of Congress, adding “The message here is that Sean Hannity and Fox News will publicly punish you if you cross the leader of our party and his chosen speaker.”
