The Locked On Podcast Network is going all in on YouTube. The media company, which has largely concentrated in podcast production since it was founded in 2016 by David Locke, has launched the first-ever 24/7 national sports stream accessible through YouTube.
Within its first week on the YouTube platform, the digital sports channel, Locked On Sports Today attracted 60,000 viewers. The channel is also uploading clips from its network each day onto YouTube, giving viewers another way to interact and engage with the content outside of the live stream.
Through the first six months of 2023, the Locked On Podcast Network has experienced a 44% growth in year-over-year (YoY) total views and listens. Tegna, a television broadcasting company that purchased the network in 2021 for $13.8 million, reported that the network surpassed 24 million monthly audio downloads and video views for the first time in May.
Adding the visual capability for podcasts has been a significant driver of growth, augmenting total podcast views by 134% YoY in the first half of 2023.
