98.5 The Sports Hub morning host Rich Shertenlieb exited the Boston sports station last weekend after an illustrious tenure hosting the daypart. Mike Felger believes Shertenlieb had to have something else lined up before making the decision to leave.
During the station’s Off-Air Show, which is published to Facebook, Mike Felger was joined by Jim Murray and said he was shocked to learn of Shertenlieb’s departure.
“My take is that I’m stunned. These jobs are rare. And they are well paying. And it is a successful show,” said Felger. “I mean, it’s just, you don’t see a guy walk away from a successful radio show like that. You just don’t see it. I believe he’s got to have something as good if not better in his back pocket or something. Maybe that’s not as well-paying, but it is more interesting to him and more challenging to him and would make him happier. But he’s got to have something.”
During the discussion, Murray shared he had no interest in joining the station’s morning show alongside Fred Toucher.
“I’ve had a conversation with my agent about it. I told him I’m 100% not interested in what I’m comfortable with where I’m at,” said Murray. “Maybe I’m an anomaly like that…I’m about being comfortable and happy. So yeah, it doesn’t really matter what the money is. It’d be nice, but I’d be miserable.”
