After their respective finishes in the BNM Top 20 Major Market Afternoon Shows category last week, KFI AM-640 host Tim Conway Jr. and 95.5 WSB host Eric Von Haessler reconnected for the first time in years. The Los Angeles host revealed that he’s still asked about Von Haessler on a somewhat frequent basis.
During a discussion on The Von Haessler Doctrine, the Atlanta host jokingly took credit for the top two spots in the category, saying he got Tim Conway Jr. his start in radio. The Los Angeles host agreed with that sentiment, praising Von Haessler for getting his foot in the door.
Conway Jr. subsequently brought Von Haessler onto his afternoon show on KFI, and revealed that despite not being on the air in the city for quite a while, listeners still ask about Von Haessler, and his former partner Larry Wachs, who formed The Regular Guys on KLSX in the 1990s.
“I am telling you, when people ask about that old station, they ask about three things,” Conway Jr. revealed. “They ask about the Riki Rachtman/Doug Steckler fight, they asked if Doug Steckler was really angry and always really that pissed, and they always ask about you guys, where you went, and what happened. Those are the three questions. I get that all the time.”
Wachs and Von Haessler moved to Atlanta and 96rock, where they partnered for an additional 15 years after departing the Los Angeles station.
Von Haessler questioned Tim Conway Jr. if listeners even remember him in Los Angeles, noting “That was a long time ago”, but the KFI host was insistent he is asked about the former duo often.
