The Opening Drive co-host Carey Davis has announced he is exiting the morning show on 101 ESPN. However, he isn’t going far.
Davis is joining The Fast Lane with Anthony Stalter and Jamie Rivers in afternoons from 2-6 PM on the St. Louis sports station. He will begin with his new show on Tuesday, December 26th.
With Rivers working on St. Louis Blues TV broadcasts with Bally Sports Midwest as the lead game analyst, Davis will bring some stability and continuity to the afternoon program. Rivers will continue his work with 101 ESPN despite the addition of Davis to the program.
A former NFL linebacker, Carey Davis joined existing morning host Randy Karraker on the rebranded The Opening Drive in September last year after the departure of co-host Michelle Smallmon to ESPN Radio.
He shared his admiration for Karaker and co-host Brooke Grimsley in announcing his departure from the station’s morning show.
“It has been a fantastic ride with you all. I have enjoyed every moment of this. Randy, you have brought me in and allowed me to be myself and enjoy this,” said Davis. “I’m happy about (the move), but I know I am going to miss you all. I love you all. You all are great friends and family. I just appreciate all you have done for my career and me in this space.”
He joked that he gets to now sleep in, saying that while he loves Karraker and Grimsley, he loves to sleep more.
