Longtime talk radio host and current SiriusXM Urban View host Joe Madison has announced he is stepping away from his show after recently being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Madison previously battled the disease in 2009, and shared in a post to X that it returned earlier this year.
“With the unwavering support of my wife Sherry, my family, and the incredible team at SiriusXM, I was able to continue our daily broadcasts. However, upon preparing to return from the Thanksgiving hiatus, my health took an adverse turn, making it challenging to host a four-hour, live show every day,” Madison wrote.
“Currently, I am taking time to focus on my well-being. During this time, SiriusXM will continue to air ‘Madison Classics’ at our regularly scheduled time. I am sincerely grateful for your outpouring of well wishes.”
Madison, 74, began his radio career in Detroit in 1980 before also working in Philadelphia, and in national syndication on the Radio One Talk Network. Joe Madison also holds the record for longest radio broadcast, when on February 25-27, he broadcasted for 52 hours straight on his SiriusXM show.
