Ben Shapiro: Lack of Israeli Hostage Coverage ‘Astounding’

It has been nearly three months since the October 7th terrorist attacks in Gaza by Hamas, with Israeli hostages still being held by the organization. The lack of coverage dumbfounds the Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro.

During a mailbag podcast Wednesday, The Ben Shapiro Show host fielded a question about his stance on the dearth of discussion about the issue on mainstream news outlets.

“The lack of coverage given to the hostages in Gaza is astonishing. If this were the Iranian hostage crisis, obviously that was like wall to wall every single day,” said Shapiro. “There are certain hostages, like a journalist for The Wall Street Journal who’s currently being held by the Russians. They’re still headlining that.

“The hostages have become a third priority because again, the immediate desire and the political world’s desire for a moral equivalence is completely scuttled by the hostage issue. And so they, I guess, are determined to ignore it.”

The Wall Street Journal reporter Shapiro referenced is Evan Gershkovich, who was arrested by Russian authorities for alleged spying against the state government in March of this year. The Wall Street Journal has denied any wrongdoing and has encouraged other media outlets to support its mission of securing Gershkovich’s release.
