There are many different viewing options on New Year’s Eve. However, Boston-based radio host Grace Curley has no interest in ever hosting a holiday broadcast.
During The Grace Curley Show Tuesday, Curley argued that there isn’t a more boring programming choice on New Year’s Eve than an interview with the President. She joked that the decision for President Joe Biden to interview during the celebration was par for the course.
“He likes to sit down for these hard-hitting interviews. You know, he doesn’t want to just do the softball ones with Drew Barrymore. He wants to do the tough stuff with Conan O’Brien and Ryan Seacrest,” Curley said, sarcastically. “Now, let me point out here — Ryan Seacrest is a very hardworking guy.”
Grace Curley then noted that hosting a New Year’s Eve production is more difficult than the average person may realize.
“I don’t envy this gig, New Year’s Eve, because it’s always hard to kill time on television. That’s the only job of the host of New Year’s Eve is to literally wait as the clock counts down to midnight, and you have to pretend to be excited. You’re in New York City, it’s freezing out. Everyone’s you know, pretending that they’re having a really good time. It just doesn’t seem like something I’d want to do.
“And then to make matters worse, then you’re like, ‘Okay, well, you know, at least we’ll have some good content lined up.’ They go ‘Yeah, and then we’re gonna have you interview the president.’ ‘Okay, I’m sure that’s gonna get the people going.'”
