SiriusXM recently provided some updates to its app, and feedback nearly across the board – including from Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina – was that the satellite radio company needed to undo whatever changes they implemented.
Traina hosted his Traina Thoughts edition of The SI Media Podcast with WFAN’s Sal Licata last week, and on it Jimmy didn’t hold back when offering his criticism of the app.
“SiriusXM redid their app, and it’s a complete and total abomination,” Traina said. “And I’m not saying this to embarrass anyone, or get this guy fired. If anyone from SiriusXM is listening, you need to fix the app. What you’ve done is a disgrace. I love you, I subscribe, you get my money. But you need to fix the app.”
Later Friday on his SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio show, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo sided with Traina’s thoughts on the changes.
“The audience has spoken on this show. And they gotta complain to somebody so they complain to me,” Russo said. “Not to mention Traina, he’s a serious big-time listener. He’s a big guy, and he pays attention. And I take what he says with this nonsense – not all the things that Jimmy says I take seriously, but this I do. If he tells you it’s a mess, it’s a mess.”
Mad Dog said he received a text from an MLB source who agreed that the new app was rough. Some of the changes included the removal of the ability to jump back or forward 10 seconds when listening to content as well as the removal of favorited SiriusXM stations.
Russo added that he was told by station program director Steve Torre that the company is going through the process of going through customer complaints and working on trying to come up with a solution.
Still, that hasn’t stopped from folks lobbying SiriusXM to change their app back.
