92.9 ESPN Remains Steady in Memphis Fall Ratings Book

Amid a turbulent marketplace which has seen many changes in the overall radio landscape, 92.9 ESPN in Memphis continues to do well. Amongst the core Male 25-54 demographic, most of the station’s dayparts remain in the top five in the latest Nielsen ratings. The year-over-year numbers for the fall book would’ve been almost impossible to match, given the station’s prior 1st place finishes in every local weekday daypart.

92.9 local shows begin with The Geoff Calkins Show, airing from 9a-11a. The show grabbed a 10.7 share, good for second best this quarter. That was the best performance on the station this quarter. Calkins’ show had been in 1st place in both the summer book and last fall. The program produced a 13.0 share in the summer book.

Jason & Jon featuring Jason Smith and John Martin led 92.9 ESPN between 11a-2p to a 4th place, 7.7 share this quarter. That figure was down however from a 9.4 in the summer.

Giannotto and Jeffrey, featuring Mark Giannotto and Jeffrey Wright from 2p-4p, delivered a 4.6 share, to rank sixth. The show’s share was down from a 9.8 in the summer, when the program ranked fourth.

The Gabe Kuhn Show, which began in February on 92.9 ESPN, earned a 7.0 share, tying for 4th from 4p-6p. Kuhn’s show was significantly higher with a 13.2 share in the summer book.

The station finished tied for 4th in weekday prime (M-F 6a-7p) with a 6.1 share. That was down from the 10.0 share 92.9 ESPN earned in the summer. Ratings information for Sports 56 wasn’t available for the fall ratings period.

It’s worth noting that a few big changes sent waves through the market. FM 100, 94.1 and WEGR were part of those moves, leading to a number of music metrics moving around and affecting performances.
