Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have a podcast through iHeartMedia that has been both praised and maligned. Conservative radio host and podcaster Charlie Kirk says he doesn’t believe the show has much of a future.
While appearing on The Megyn Kelly Show, Kirk was asked about the podcast between the disgraced GMA3 anchors. He shared his belief that one of the easiest ways to deduce how talented media members are is by taking their platforms away and seeing if they still find success, similar to how Kelly did after leaving Fox News and NBC and joining SiriusXM.
“You can tell a lot about somebody and how talented they are or not when you remove them from the box. When you remove them from being in 100 million homes, and all of a sudden you make them have to survive in the wild, you’re gonna find out a lot,” said Kirk. “Megan, look, you have like the number one podcast on the planet here. And we love it. We love the success. We love the virality. I don’t think this (Holmes/Robach podcast) is going to do very well.”
That’s when Charlie Kirk opined on the state of the podcast industry and the difficulty in finding success.
“Podcasting is a ruthless business, as you well know, Megan,” Kirk said. “It’s hyper-competitive. And what I love about it is that if you’re a failure people see your failure very, very quickly. If you don’t succeed, you go into the hinterlands.”
