Former RNC chair Ronna McDaniel saw her political analyst role with NBC News come to an end after just five days after internal backlash. Reports have surfaced about her media prospects drying up, but Newsmax isn’t shy about their interest in speaking with her.
McDaniel’s possibilities of salvaging a media career after resigning from the Republican National Committee, and subsequent release from NBC News, seemed dim originally. CNN CEO Mark Thompson told the network’s Oliver Darcy he would have never considered hiring the former political party chair.
Additionally, Fox News did not seem like an ideal fit for the former party leader, especially after current Republican nominee Donald Trump — who reportedly demanded McDaniel step aside, continually denigrated her to his supporter base.
However, a report surfaced that both Newsmax and NewsNation could be potential landing spots for Ronna McDaniel. Newsmax publicly stated it would be willing to discuss a potential role for her.
“Newsmax would be interested in having a conversation with her about joining us,” Newsmax CEO and owner Chris Ruddy told Mediaite. “She’s been an important voice in the GOP for a long time.”
The report from Mediaite goes on to state that a producer at the network, however, believes it would be a mistake for the cable outlet to hire her.
“She has the unenviable position of being unwanted by both pro-Trump and anti-Trump media,” said the producer. “Trump dislikes her, and [Newsmax viewers] bow at the altar of Trump.”
