As part of its coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, NBC has announced that Call Her Daddy podcast host, executive producer and co-creator Alex Cooper will host interactive watch parties during the Olympics streaming live on Peacock. Watch with Alex Cooper will be hosted by Cooper and feature special guests throughout the week, utilizing a picture-in-picture view to watch different events and interact with fans on social media in real time. Cooper played Division I soccer at Boston University, and will provide her thoughts on several sporting events including those in soccer, gymnastics and basketball throughout the broadcasts.
“As a former athlete, the chance to cheer on the world’s greatest athletes at the Olympics is beyond thrilling,” Cooper said in a statement. “I am so excited to be partnering with NBC and Peacock to present this interactive watch-party format for the first time from the Olympics, designed to bring audiences even closer to the excitement [of] Paris. We are going to have so much fun.”
Cooper recently introduced Trending, her own media company, along with The Unwell Network, which is its subsidiary. Ace Entertainment founder and chief executive officer Matt Kaplan is her business partner within these companies. The Unwell Network has signed several creators and influencers to its talent roster since its launch such as Alix Earle, Madeline Argy and Harry Jowsey to highlight the stories and amplify the voices of Gen Z.
While Cooper is in Paris, she will record the Call Her Daddy podcast and produce additional content surrounding the Olympics with NBCUniversal. The Spotify-based podcast is consistently at the top of the podcast charts and claims to be the most-listened to podcast among women. The endeavor represents another edition of the Watch With-style of programming on Peacock, with previous editions including Bel-Air, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, The Real Housewives of Miami and last year’s finale of Eurovision.
“I can’t wait to find out what it’s like to watch the Olympics with the incomparable Alex Cooper,” Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production, said in a statement. “She has attracted a fanatical audience by being unapologetically fun and original, and she has been a vocal supporter of women’s sports and female empowerment. Alex is the perfect host for this interactive Olympics viewing experience on Peacock. Watch with Alex Cooper is designed to put the viewer in the room with her and her friends as they watch the athletes of Team USA take on the world. It should be a blast!”
Peacock users will also be able to watch the Gold Zone whiparound show throughout the Olympic Games, hosted by Scott Hanson, Andrew Siciliano, Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila. The program will take viewers around Paris and highlight key events, monumental finishes and record-breaking feats. Consumers can utilize new features on Peacock as they watch the action, including Peacock Live Actions, which will allow them to select their own viewing path. Peacock Discovery Multiview allows users to equip a four-view experience and watch the most important events.
