After 52 years at KVNU in Logan, Utah, morning host Al Lewis has announced he is stepping away.
Lewis joined the station in August 1972. He has since hosted KVNU’s Morning News and Trading Post from 6-10 AM.
However, after 52 years, the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Famer said it’s time to step aside.
“It’s getting harder and harder to get up at 4:15 AM every morning,” Lewis said. “I don’t have much more to give.”
In addition to his work at KVNU, Al Lewis was also the longtime radio play-by-play voice of the Utah State University Aggies, calling more than 1,000 events for the university during his tenure. He also spent 25 years calling games for Logan High School in the region.
“I got the job I love and wanted to do for all this time,” he said. “I found I could do other things to make it full-time to make the money I needed. I haven’t regretted going to work at KVNU.”
“It has been a joy and a pleasure to come to work each day and see Al consistently working hard at his craft,” added Cache Valley Media Group President and CEO Kent Frandsen. “He has been a consummate professional and elevated our entire company with his professionalism and connection to the community.”
