KOA 850 midday host Mandy Connell went to Milwaukee to cover the Republican National Convention for the Denver news/talk station. She had high praise for the event upon her return.
As she hosted her program upon her return to Denver, Connell invited questions from listeners about the behind-the-scenes happenings of the event.
During her recap, she noted that KOA was positioned next to the Premiere Networks booth, where shows like The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show, The Sean Hannity Show, and The Jesse Kelly Show were conducting their programs.
She joked that she had never realized that Jesse Kelly — who stands at 6’8 — is as tall as he is. She joked that interacting with Kelly was humorous due to his build, noting that “if he weights 200 pounds, I’m shocked,” adding that he walked “like Woody from Toy Story.”
“He was very nice. Very nice. I didn’t meet any people that were not nice. But I was kind of surprised and Jesse was so nice. And then Buck Sexton was fantastic. They broadcast next to us. I just met really interesting broadcasters from all over the country. I had great conversations,” Connell said. “Dan O’Donnell and I from WISN in Milwaukee? We’re like best friends now … He’s an absolute riot.”
Mandy Connell continued by revealing how landing guests happens on the convention floor.
“We’re on media row. And all of a sudden you’re like, ‘Oh look, Rudy Giuliani. Oh, look, Donald Trump Jr.’ I mean, it was just all of these people one after the other, after the other, … There are people that would come into media row, and they would come in and you could tell that they were waiting to be asked. They were like, ‘Oh, I’ll just walk around and somebody will want to talk to me.’ And those people were just kind of sad … It’s just like this giant hustle. It’s like a flea market almost of guests. And it’s just it’s so interesting.”
