1480 WHBC host Jordan Miller has departed the Canton, Ohio news/talk station as part of greater cuts at parent company Alpha Media.
Miller had hosted from 10 AM to Noon on the news/talk station for almost four years before being told his show was being eliminated as part of ongoing cuts within the company.
“It was a really tough decision but something that had to be done due to the financial issues with Alpha Media,” 1480 WHBC Content Director Pam Cook told a local newspaper. She added that the decision to end the program was “really tough because he’s part of our family, and I’m proud of how much he’s grown on the air in his time here.”
Cook said Miller would be the only casualty for the station in the layoffs. Local programming does remain on the Canton news/talk outlet as a sports show hosted by Cook hosts Canton’s Morning News, and a local sports show airs in afternoon featuring longtime host Kenny Roda.
Jordan Miller thanked Cook and the company for the opportunity to host a midday show on the station after his exit.
“I can’t thank (Cook) enough for taking the risk with a young Jordan Miller,” he said, noting that he was only 25 years old when the opportunity to host on the station arose. “I wasn’t too good when I first started, but WHBC guided me towards success over the years.”
The program has been replaced in the station’s daily lineup by The Ramsey Show.
