A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck just east of Pasadena Monday afternoon, which took place while Travis Rodgers and Allen Sliwa were on the air with ESPN Los Angeles.
At 12:20 PM PT, the earthquake shook the studio, with the hosts pausing their discussion about whether or not putting ketchup on a hot dog was taboo or not to alert listeners to the event.
“That’s an earthquake,” Rodgers said, immediately as he felt the studio moving. “Woah. That is a real one, guys.”
Sliwa then pointed out to his co-host that he needed to be cognizant of the TV mounted above him in the studio as Rodgers questioned whether or not it was the beginning of a more forceful quake.
It was the first earthquake for producer Emily Hybl, who quickly dropped to the floor when the geological event began. Rodgers quickly asked “Em, you good? I’m really asking. Is she alright over there? Is that your first one, Em? What did you think?”
She joked that she had a similar experience one time in Virginia.
The show joked that despite being on the second floor, it was more than noticeable, as cameras shook inside the Good Karma Brands station studio.
Despite the shaking, the show continued as normal after things settled down.
