1130 WISN Host Jay Weber Absent From Show After Social Media Firestorm

Fill-in host Ben Yount claimed it was a scheduled day off for Weber and insisted he will return to the show on Monday.

After receiving strong pushback from a series of social media posts Thursday, 1130 WISN host Jay Weber did not host his Milwaukee morning show Friday.

On Thursday, Weber called Gus Walz, the son of Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz, a “blubbering bitch boy” in a post to X that he later deleted. After followers pointed out the 17-year-old has special needs, Weber backtracked his comments before pointing out that he has been a firm believer in leaving the children of political candidates out of any criticisms, but failed in that moment.

“I didn’t realize the kid was disabled, and have taken the post down,” Weber wrote. In an X fever, I broke one of my own long-standing rules when I saw the video. I’ve said ‘the kids are off limits’ for decades, then fell into myself,” he admitted. “No excuses. Good reminder.”

Benjamin Yount filled in for Weber Friday morning. To open the show, he addressed the situation and claimed it was a scheduled day off. He insisted that Jay Weber would return to the show on Monday as normally scheduled.

“This was scheduled ahead of time. Can’t expect the pros — this is load management — to work a full five-day week,” said Yount. “So, Jay will be back on Monday.”

1130 WISN has yet to comment publicly on the situation. Friday afternoon, Weber shared a grander apology than what he offered the prior day.

“This is a fuller apology for something stupid and hurtful I said yesterday. I said it without thinking or having the facts. No excuses. Having been a teacher, I’ve had a standard of never involving children, I broke that and I’m disappointed with myself,” the host wrote. “I apologize to the Walz family and anyone who was offended. I feel horrible, I am so sorry.”

  1. Apology’s like that mean nothing. Because it’s what they really think they just got caught thinking out loud. The insurrectionist was so angry that he couldn’t control himself when he saw joy instead of hate. The normals are going to win.

  2. The only reason he’s “apologizing” is because he was ordered to and is trying to save his job. WISN 1130 needs to set an example and fire this dope, but still no apology from station management.

  3. Get rid of this clown. First he attacks a kid. Then he does some half hearted apology but still attacks his dad, all in the same sentence. Then a forced apology. He is vile character. Plenty of people could take and do a better job than this ignoramus. He is vile.

  4. Fire him, that was beyond cruel, there was nothing political about that, other than a son’s love for his father…sorry doesn’t cut it, hope your owner and sponsors are listening.

  5. Do the right thing. Weber should not be back on Monday – or any day. Fire this vile human.

Will you have the balls to do what needs to be done?

  6. Funny how rejects like him always think it’s fun & games when they’re burning down the house, but need “scheduled days off” because they can’t take the heat. He’s a typical maga fathead, limited intelligence, a forgettable clown insecure in his own manhood. Keep hiring stereotypes, WISN. Couldn’t you get Hulk Hogan, who wanted to body slam Kamala Harris?

  7. What a loser this guy is.He says he didn’t realize he was special needs when making fun of him. Hey loser, how about stop making fun of kids in the first place, special needs or not! Imagine that this guy was a school teacher?!? Frightening.

  8. WISN must immediately reprimand and fire Jay Weber.Such insensitivity, such cruelty toward Gus is deplorable.Weber must be held accountable.Do the right thing WISN AM and I Heart Media.

  9. You claim to be a coach, Little Maaan? I’m a single dad of daughters and I cry when they succeed, when I think of my deceased father, the Colonel and when I won rugby championships. Stick to hiding behind a mic while trying to dishonor veterans and slithering into our daughters’ bedrooms and doctors offices. You’re no man

  10. His comments show the kind of person he REALLY is. When a person shows you who they are, believe it. He needs to find a job with the Trump Campaign. Get him off the radio!

  11. What a jerk, those comments would have been fine with Jay if the kid was not special needs. He’s only sorry because people are calling him out for his stupidity. He should be fired ASAP! and if he is not, that says a lot about radio station WISN!

  12. Fire Jay Weber, now. His “apology” was insincere. That kind of cruelty, bullying, making fun of a child who is showing his love to his father, is inexcusable.

  13. We are horrified that jay Weber said what he did – his apology seems superficial. Please don’t let him back on the air. A disgrace
