With a new set of call letters, Iowa Public Radio launched “Studio One” AAA 88.9 KKSO/Mitchellville and 94.1/Des Moines today (8/29).
Al Schares is Program Director, and the station is now positioned as “Iowa’s Alternative Music Station.”
Previously known as KICJ, the station was part of Iowa Public Radio’s classical network.
Studio One airs on IPR’s network of FM public news and talk stations across the state, broadcasting on weeknight evenings, overnight hours, and weekend afternoons.
A commercial AM station in the Des Moines market previously used the KKSO call letters. This callsign was a nod to the heritage KSO callsign that a different AM station had used in the past.
