Late last month, host Tom Jordan left WJR 760 and he now says a shifting focus away from conservative talk led him to depart the Detroit news/talk brand.
Jordan previously hosted All Talk with Kevin Dietz from 9 AM to Noon on the Cumulus Media Detroit station. While appearing on The Tudor Dixon Podcast, which is heard on The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Podcast Network, Jordan claimed that the focus of the station has changed, and he no longer aligned with its vision.
“In the past few months, I was specifically told, specifically, that ‘We’re going to change the way we do things,’” Jordan said. “I was specifically told, ‘We want to have continued access to these people.’ And they specifically told me ‘We no longer want to be considered a conservative talk radio station. We’re trying to shed that label.’”
On his own podcast, Jordan argued that his “access” to certain politicians was blocked due to his conservative politics.
“It went up as high as the White House,” Jordan said. “We tried to get the surrogates on for Kamala Harris … they wouldn’t come on because certain conservative hosts like myself were being blacklisted because we weren’t Democrat-friendly enough.”
Jordan was paired with Kevin Dietz for nearly three years before departing the midday program. He also previously worked at WWJ 950 in the city before jumping to WJR.
