CNN has announced the addition of anchor and correspondent Ben Hunte to serve in its Atlanta headquarters.
Hunte joins the network after previously working for VICE News in London as a global correspondent. During his time at the network, he earned Emmy nominations for his work on programming for BBC News Africa as well as BBC World Service.
“This is an exciting time to be joining CNN, especially at its original home in Atlanta,” said Hunte. “The studios, facilities, technology and talent here are all exceptional, but I’m also looking forward to the stories I’ll be able to tell from here and elsewhere for audiences around the world.”
During his tenure working on London for VICE, Hunte won several awards for his work surrounding LGBTQ issues, which said was a primary focus for him.
“I am extremely passionate about LGBTQ issues, and I’m also looking forward to picking those important stories up again with the backing of an organization like CNN.”
“Ben embodies so much of what we want to do at CNN,” added CNN International Senior Vice President of Programming Meara Erdozain. “He’s a dynamic, exciting talent with proven multi-platform skills and a hard-earned reputation for delivering impactful reporting. Whether in the field or in the studio, he will bring a new dimension to our content and our journalism.”
As part of his new role, he’ll be anchoring CNN Newsroom for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and for late-night audiences in the United States.
