Longtime Charlotte Radio Host Paul Schadt Announces Retirement

Paul Schadt, longtime co-host of “The Paul Schadt & Sarah Lee Morning Show” at “96.9 The Kat,” Charlotte, NC, has announced he will retire in February 2025.

Paul Schadt, longtime co-host of “The Paul Schadt & Sarah Lee Morning Show” at “96.9 The Kat,” Charlotte, NC, has announced he will retire in February 2025. Schadt, a veteran in the market, made the announcement this morning.

After retiring, Schadt will take on the role of station ambassador, making both on-air and on-site appearances. With 44 years of experience in the market, he has spent the last 27 years at “96.9 The Kat.”

“This has been the toughest decision of my life by far because I love what I do,” said Paul Schadt. “I’m a very lucky guy; I’ve had the most remarkable ‘job’ anyone could ever ask for. Growing up, I never would have believed the people I’d meet and work with, the experiences I’d have, and all the lives I’d get to be a part of every day.”

Schadt was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2014. He has won numerous awards and nominations from the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association (CMA). He currently holds the title of the longest-running personality on radio in Charlotte.

For the past 29 years, he has co-hosted “Racing Country USA,” fostering strong connections with NASCAR drivers and team owners throughout his career.
