On Sunday night, a helicopter crashed into the tower of Univision’s Que Buena 102.9, Latino Mix 104.9, and Black Talk 1230 KCOH in Houston. The incident collapsed the 1,000-foot tower, killing four people, including a child.
A helicopter collided with a tower at 7:54 PM CT, according to the Houston Fire Department. The impact caused both the helicopter and the tower to catch fire, with flames spreading to the ground below. As a result, the stations are currently off the air.
A notice from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released just four days before Sunday night’s crash indicated that some lights on the radio tower involved were not operational, as reported by Pat Cavlin from Houston’s KHOU.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have announced plans to investigate.
