TNT Sports has announced its 10th edition of The Match which will showcase some of the biggest names from sports and entertainment in a two-night primetime event on Thursday, Nov. 21 and Friday, Nov. 22. Coverage of the event will be simulcast on TNT and Max.
The Match: Superstars will feature Bill Murray, Mark Wahlberg, Charles Barkley, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Phelps, Nate Bargatze, Ken Griffey, Jr., and Blake Griffin, competing from Breakers West Country Club in West Palm Beach, FL. The competition format will tee off with two matches of 2-vs.-2 scramble match play for Quarterfinals, with the following pairings:
Murray/Gretzky vs. Barkley/Griffey and Wahlberg/Phelps vs. Bargatze/Griffin
The event will conclude with Semifinals and Finals rounds under individual match play, with the winner walking away with a $1 million prize.
Ernie Johnson will host the broadcast along with 2008 Masters Champion Trevor Immelman. Two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson will serve as an on-course correspondent and Kathryn Tappen will return as course reporter.
TNT Sports also says multi-platform coverage of The Match: Superstars will include social and digital extensions via Bleacher Report and House of Highlights, including The Broadcast Boys, Fat Perez and Joey Cold Cuts, as well as Hally Leadbetter contributing via Golf Digest.
TNT Sports has televised nine editions of The Match to-date, with the series serving as a platform to support various philanthropical organizations. To date, The Match has raised more than $41 million for various organizations and has donated more than 27 million meals to Feeding America.
