Brendan Brown, the son of Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster Hubie Brown, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday due to health complications at the age of 54. Brown had several roles in basketball through the years, he had been an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies after spending time as a scout for the organization, was also a scout for the Knicks and Pistons, and worked for several years for MSG Networks as a New York Knicks broadcaster.
His wife posted the news on Brown’s Facebook page saying in part, “It doesn’t seem real to have to say this and I’m struggling to find the right words, but on Sunday Brendan unexpectedly passed away due to health complications. We’re still in a bit of shock and processing.”
Brown succeeded former Knicks player John Andraiese full-time as an analyst in 2012. Over his decade in the booth, Brown’s partners included Spero Dedes, Mike Crispino, and Ed Cohen.
Hubie Brown is still calling games for ESPN at the age of 91.
