Nick Wize is the new programming boss in Tampa for 95.3 WDAE. Wize posted on his Facebook that he was named to the position earlier this week.
“Career update for me,” Wize wrote. ” In addition to my current role, yesterday I was named the program director of 95.3 WDAE the sports radio station in Tampa Bay. Sports radio is originally what I got in this business to do and couldn’t be more thrilled for the opportunity to work with this awesome team.”
Wize takes over for John Mamola, who was let go in the most recent round of iHeartMedia layoffs. Mamola had been with the station since 2011. Mamola had announced a long-term contract extension with iHeart in February. Mamola wasn’t the only victim of the layoffs in Tampa as midday show hosts Jay Recher and Zac Blobner, along with producer James Donlon, were also let go.
Wize was already working for iHeartMedia in Tampa as afternoon host on 93.3 FLZ in addition to hosting a Saturday sports show on WDAE. Wize was born in Michigan.
The current WDAE lineup is The Pat and Aaron Show with Pat Donovan and Aaron Jacobson in mornings followed by Dan Patrick and Colin Cowherd along with The Drive with TKras hosted by Tom Krasniqi.
