Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting has announced the sale of 94.1 WSOS-FM in Jacksonville, FL, to Norsan Media for $1.6 million.
The upcoming Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) will facilitate the transfer of WSOS-FM’s Classic Country format, known as “Jax Country,” to 100.3 in Jacksonville and 100.7 WMUV-HD2 in Brunswick, GA.
The “Jax Country” brand first launched on 105.3 WYKB in 2017 and expanded to include WSOS-FM the following year. WYKB was sold to Norsan in 2021.
Hannah Guile, who recently joined Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting as Assistant Program Director and sales associate, will host afternoons at Jax Country 100.3.
Norsan Media operates five radio brands in the Jacksonville area. These include the Spanish Top 40, “Latina 92.1” WJXR, Spanish Rhythmic “Flow 105.3” WYKB, and the regional Mexican station, “La Raza 92.9.”
Additionally, the Spanish AC “Romantica” has signals at 92.7 in Orange Park, 103.7 in Atlantic Beach, and WYKB-HD2. Rounding out their offerings is the bilingual Top 40 “Top 97.3,” which broadcasts on 970 WNNR in Jacksonville and 97.3 in Orange Park.
