Spotify has released its 2024 Spotify Wrapped rankings. To no surprise, The Joe Rogan Experience was listed as the most popular program of the year.
In the top video podcasts in the U.S., The Joe Rogan Experience eclipsed Call Her Daddy and the Lex Fridman Podcast for the top spot.
While already the most popular program in the space, the show hosted by Joe Rogan also saw gigantic audiences after featuring conversations with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and his running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) in a separate episode.
The news that Rogan remains the top podcast on the streaming platform comes after he inked a new deal with the company that added wider distribution to his contract. Previously, the program was only available on the Spotify app. However, Rogan’s show is now available on all major podcast platforms. The video simulcast is also available on YouTube and Rumble.
According to Spotify, 2024 featured a 50% increase in those publishing video podcasts on the platform. In total, there are now more than 300,000 video podcasts available on the platform.
“When you look at some of the best video podcasts, you can see that they don’t always have the most sophisticated and manicured set,” Spotify Head of Content Partnerships Jordan Newman told Yahoo Entertainment. “You can do something that feels really raw and authentic, and that’s what podcasting is all about. I think the barriers for entry are pretty low.”
Joining The Joe Rogan Experience in the Top 50 Podcasts in the US, according to Spotify, were other news media shows like The Daily (#5), The Tucker Carlson Show (#6), The Shawn Ryan Show (#10), Up First from NPR (#11), The Journal (#13), NPR News Now (#27), and The Ben Shapiro Show (#35).
