The University of Georgia was the most-watched college football team during the 2024 season, according to data from Nielsen.
Bulldogs games drew an average of 8.6 million viewers per game, according to Nielsen, which tracked audiences across networks owned by The Walt Disney Co., Fox, NBCUniversal and others.
Georgia’s biggest games came against Texas, with 13 million viewers, and Alabama, with 12 million viewers.
Eight of the Top 10 teams, including Georgia, are members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The exceptions were Big Ten mainstays The Ohio State University, which averaged 8.6 million viewers per game (No, 2), and Michigan, 5.2 million viewers (No. 6). The Game between Michigan and Ohio State drew 12 million viewers.
The other Top 10 college teams in terms of ratings were: Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, Kentucky and Florida.
Overall NIelsen said that 154 billion minutes of college football were watched during the regular season, up from 132 billion minuts a year ago. The total average audience for college football was up 6% from last year, and up 11% amont adults 18 to 34.
Nielsen also released the most-watched teams in the other college conferences. Army was the leader in the AAC, Miami topped the ACC, Colorado led the Big 12, UTEP was the most-watched in Conference USA, Colorado State was the leader in the Mountain West, Oregon State topped the Pac 12, Marshall was most watch in the Sun Belt and the top independent was Notre Dame.
