Bobby Marks Signs Contract Extension with ESPN

The extension for Marks comes ahead of The Walt Disney Company beginning a new 11-year media rights contract with the NBA.

Bobby Marks has signed a contract extension with ESPN, the network announced on Wednesday afternoon. Marks, who serves as an NBA front office insider and contributes across programming such as NBA Today and SportsCenter, has been a member of ESPN since 2017. As a former executive with the Brooklyn Nets, he provides insight and intel pertaining to the NBA front offices, specializing in league economics and business transactions. Tom Friend of Sports Business Journal reported that Marks agreed to a four-year deal with the network that he was approached about before the expiration of his current deal in June

Marks worked with Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo Sports before joining ESPN, and he is now collaborating with Shams Charania surrounding NBA coverage. ESPN added Charania to its basketball coverage following Wojnarowski’s retirement from the journalism business last fall, working as its senior NBA insider and appearing on various studio programs. Marks also breaks news at ESPN, including the blockbuster trade sending Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks.

Marks continues to provide NBA coverage across multiple platforms of dissemination, including through his social media accounts. Earlier on Wednesday, he put out a list of 18 NBA players that were now trade eligible and explained the signing restriction rule that applies on this day. Moreover, he posts infographics that convey details surrounding contracts, draft selections and other NBA league matters.
