The Golden Globes has announced it will introduce a new category award during its 2026 award show season, and it’s one that should make the audio industry happy.
At the 83rd Golden Globes in 2026, the award show will present the Best Podcast Award for the first time in its history.
The announcement shares that six nominees will be selected as finalists for the award, with those shows being chosen from the top 25 most-listened to programs from the medium.
“As the world of entertainment continues to evolve, we are excited to recognize new forms of storytelling,” President of the Golden Globes Helen Hoehne said. “Podcasts have emerged as a profound medium for sharing narratives and building communities across global borders and generations. By celebrating achievements in both audio and visual podcasts, we aim to honor our heritage categories while making room for new voices and formats to be heard.”
The best podcast award is the first category to be added to the awards since best cinematic and box office achievement and best stand-up comedy special were added in 2024.
The Golden Globes are scheduled for Sunday, January 11th. The award show will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Comedian Nikki Glaser is slated to host the award ceremony. Nominations will be announced on Monday, December 8th.
