The Saturday night FOX Sports broadcast of the American League East division rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees was part of a Baseball Night in America broadcast window that averaged 3.05 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. In addition to Red Sox-Yankees, the broadcast window also contained a National League matchup featuring the San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers televised in select markets.

As a result, the window is the most-watched MLB regular-season telecast airing on any network since September 2022, which coincides with when FOX Sports registered an average of 3.1 million viewers for the same matchup. The property is up 61% from last year’s average of 1.9 million viewers, and it is also the strongest performance for a FOX Saturday MLB telecast since June 2018.

The viewership average continues momentum built from the previous week when the Yankees were featured on Baseball Night in America facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in a World Series matchup. Data from Nielsen Media Research and Adobe Analytics divulged that the window averaged 2.2 million viewers, marking a 16% year-over-year increase from last year’s MLB regular-season telecasts on FOX.

Entering last week, FOX Sports was averaging 1.84 million viewers per game on its MLB broadcasts, marking a 10% proliferation from the previous year. MLB viewership across other networks is accruing significant gains as well, with ESPN, tbs and MLB Network Showcase games all garnering double-digit percentage gains.

FOX Sports is continuing its coverage of Major League Baseball throughout the season with broadcasts from the All-Star Game, the MLB Speedway Classic and the World Series in addition to other postseason matchups. Fox Corporation is currently in the fourth season of a seven-year media rights deal with the league reportedly worth $729 million per year.
