CBS Sports, Pac-12 Extend Broadcast Rights Through 2030-2031 Season

"I am thankful to the team at CBS Sports for seeing our vision and investing in our shared future as we build, launch and realize a new Pac-12 together"

Date:

CBS Sports and the Pac-12 Conference have announced a long-term extension of their media rights partnership, beginning with the 2025 football season and running through the 2030–31 academic year. The renewed agreement cements CBS Sports as the primary media partner for the new Pac-12, which is set to officially launch ahead of the 2026–27 season. Additional media partners are expected to be announced in the coming months, signaling continued growth and transformation for the conference.

Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould praised the collaboration, calling the agreement a key milestone in the league’s strategic evolution.

“Our goal with this process was to find transformational partnerships for the new Pac-12, and throughout our discussions and time together it became more and more clear that a partnership with CBS Sports would be just that,” Gould said. “I am thankful to the team at CBS Sports for seeing our vision and investing in our shared future as we build, launch and realize a new Pac-12 together.”

As part of the deal, CBS Sports will carry both football and men’s basketball games throughout each season on The CBS Television Network and stream them live on Paramount+. Coverage will also extend to CBS Sports Network, with further programming details to be shared at a later date.

Octagon, the Pac-12’s exclusive media rights advisor, facilitated the negotiations for both the initial 2025 agreement and the extended long-term deal.

Highlights of the partnership include:

  • The annual Pac-12 Football Championship Game airing on CBS and Paramount+.
  • The annual Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship Game on CBS and Paramount+.
  • A minimum of three regular season football games per year on CBS and Paramount+.
  • A minimum of three regular season men’s basketball games per year on CBS and Paramount+.
  • Additional regular season football and men’s basketball games on CBS Sports Network.

Dan Weinberg, Executive Vice President of Programming at CBS Sports, emphasized the significance of the partnership at a pivotal moment for the conference.

“As the new Pac-12’s primary media partner, CBS Sports’ top-tier coverage will showcase the best of the conference’s football and men’s basketball games annually across our platforms, including the championship game for both sports,” Weinberg said. “Extending this partnership strengthens our multiplatform college football and basketball schedule and allows us to collaborate, grow the conference and expand its reach.”

The expanded deal also includes one additional all-sports, football-playing member joining the new Pac-12 Conference. All current and future members were involved in the decision to extend the agreement with CBS Sports.

While CBS Sports will serve as the anchor media partner, the Pac-12 and Octagon are actively pursuing additional partnerships to round out the league’s media presence. Further announcements are expected once agreements are finalized.
