Former 670 The Score host Dan Bernstein is stepping back behind the mic, but this time on his own terms. The veteran Chicago sports voice announced last week that his new podcast, Dan Bernstein: Unfiltered, will officially launch on Monday, marking his return to sports media after an extended absence.
In a preview of the debut episode, Bernstein joined Sherman and Tingle on Chicago’s 97.1 The Drive and teased what listeners can expect as far as a behind the curtain look at what happened with his exit in March from 670 The Score.
“I am planning to do that. So I will tell you, I’m not going to do that here. That is going to be on Monday” Bernstein said when asked to reveal the whole story about his exit. “When episode one drops, if you want to hear about what happened and about, importantly, where I’ve been the last half a year, and what I’ve been doing and what has ensued since. Don’t miss episode one.”
For more than three decades, Bernstein carved out a reputation in Chicago as one of the most candid and polarizing personalities on The Score. His sharp opinions and often unfiltered commentary made him a staple for listeners who wanted more than just the traditional X’s and O’s.
Now, with a podcast carrying the same “unfiltered” branding, Bernstein is signaling that he intends to double down on the style that defined his run in terrestrial radio.
“I’ve got so many sports thoughts,” Bernstein said. “I’ve got sports thoughts. And the cool thing about Unfiltered is stick to sports — that is over. I don’t have to stick to anything anymore.”
Bernstein also announced that the debut of Dan Bernstein: Unfiltered will drop at noon eastern on Monday, with the debut of a secondary Chicago Bears focused podcast entitled Forward Progress with co-host and producer Matt Abbatacola.
Both podcasts will premiere under the new 312 Sports banner on Monday, August 25th. It will be streamed across all major audio platforms and YouTube.
Keith Lawless, Market President of Hubbard Chicago, which owns 312 Sports, emphasized Bernstein’s impact on the city’s sports dialogue in a release last week. “Dan’s thoughtful and honest perspective has captured the pulse of this city for decades,” said Lawless. “His new show on 312 Sports will give listeners the kind of honest conversation they can’t get anywhere else.”

Oh please—doesnt have to stick to sports? He already did that while with the SCORE for years. Already know what Unfiltered will bring, the same Bernstein only with swear words and continued open disdain for half the potential available listeners (non Liberals). Bad business model and wont hold up over time (Colbert, Stern?).
His sidekick Abbatacola left a good steady Corporate job for this risk? Webio comes to mind, memba that disaster for folks who had real jobs and left for that nonsense? I’ll listen for a bit because I’m a sucker for his hate and want to see just what level now he’ll take it too. Any wonder why a Kids with Cancer Camp dropped his arse? He’s a Trust Fund Baby and doesn’t need the money, would’ve thought he’d stay dropped out and Fish the rest of his Life.
He’ll have to lead off Monday with something about Bagent—Williams was a disaster Friday night, Bagent cleaned up and was timely and smart. Ben Johnson loves the kid–Bernstein has public disdain for Tyson and his Father…because of the usual Bernstein predictable formula for Hate; White, from Poverty, Conservative..That formula will NOT work for long term success on a silly Podcast that a thousand times 10 other “unfiltered” sports geeks are already doing. Best change up the formula, better yet hope he doesnt–the whole town will come for him if he does the usual Bagent Hate for no other reason than his cultural differences. A sick man Dan is. Toodle-Loo.
Dan is certainly one of the pioneers of Chicago sports talk. I look forward to his return – it has been a long 5 months without.
