"This is the type of show boxing has always needed and never had"

Date:

Two of boxing media’s most recognizable voices are teaming up for a n w weekly program designed to bring fans closer to the sport’s biggest stories. The Ring announced that veteran television personality Max Kellerman and senior insider Mike Coppinger will co-host Inside The Ring, a studio show set to stream worldwide on DAZN.

The program debuts Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Las Vegas ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster super middleweight title clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford at Allegiant Stadium. Kellerman believes the show fills a long-standing void.

“This is the type of show boxing has always needed and never had,” Kellerman said. “The Ring has been the sport’s publication of record for over 100 years. With the new vision for the brand, it is clearly leading boxing into the future.”

DAZN will also stream special editions of the show following the Alvarez-Crawford press conference Thursday and Friday’s weigh-in. After fight week, the program transitions into a Monday schedule, beginning September 15 from Los Angeles. Clips will also be available on The Ring’s YouTube channel. The show will feature breaking news, analysis, fighter interviews, and previews of upcoming cards. It will be hosted by a rotating cast of contributors joining the two co-hosts.

Kellerman first gained attention more than two decades ago as an analyst on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights and later built a national profile on HBO’s World Championship Boxing and ESPN talk shows SportsNation and First Take.

Coppinger, who returned to The Ring in April, has become one of the sport’s top insiders while breaking stories for outlets including USA Today, The Athletic, and ESPN.com. He views the new venture as an opportunity to create a must-watch destination.

“We promise to deliver fans destination viewing each Monday on all things boxing. From inside information to analysis of the weekend’s fights and what’s ahead,” Coppinger said. “The sport has missed Max’s voice. And it’s a thrill to team up with him for this flagship show. Spearheaded by the iconic brand of The Ring.”

Inside The Ring is produced by Omaha Productions, the company behind ESPN’s “ManningCast” and Netflix’s Quarterback series. DAZN executives see the show as another way to strengthen the network’s position in the sport.

“This show marks an exciting extension of our partnership with HE Turki Alalshikh and The Ring. While also reinforcing DAZN’s position as the global home of boxing,” CEO Shay Segev said.
