Television networks will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with extensive coverage, including live reports from New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Fox News, ABC News, CBS News, and NBC News will each examine the attacks and their lasting impact.
The networks will also revisit the stories of those who experienced September 11, 2001, while examining how the country responded in the aftermath.
Meanwhile, several programs will explore the cultural and personal impact of the terrorist attacks.
ABC News
ABC News began its anniversary coverage with 9/11: United We Stand – 25 Years Later, which debuted Tuesday, September 1. Michael Strahan anchors the two-hour special, which examines how sports, music, Broadway, and comedy provided comfort and connection after the attacks.
Derek Jeter, Pete Davidson, Jon Bon Jovi, Jon Stewart, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Martha Raddatz, Billy Crystal, Matthew Broderick, Jimmy Fallon, Mark Messier, and Victor Cruz are among the participants. The special is currently streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
CBS News
CBS News will provide extensive coverage throughout the day. CBS Mornings will broadcast live from Ground Zero, while Tony Dokoupil will join the coverage and Norah O’Donnell will report from the Pentagon.
At 8:30 AM ET, CBS News will air a special report covering memorials in New York, Shanksville, and the Pentagon. CBS Evening News will then originate from Ground Zero at 6:30 PM ET, followed by a special report anchored by Dokoupil at 8 PM.
At 9 PM, Daughters of 9/11 will examine whether Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was accused of masterminding the attacks, will ever face justice.
NBC News
NBC News will begin its coverage with a special edition of Today live from Ground Zero. Savannah Guthrie will anchor an NBC News Special Report at 8:30 AM ET, including coverage of moments of silence on NBC and NBC News NOW.
Tom Llamas will anchor NBC Nightly News and Top Story from Ground Zero. NBC News will also provide live coverage throughout the day across NBCNews.com and NBC News NOW.
Additionally, a special Here’s the Scoop podcast will feature people who were children on 9/11. At 10 PM ET, Lester Holt will host a special edition of Dateline using NBC News archives to revisit the attacks.
CNN
CNN’s coverage will begin at 7 AM ET with Kate Bolduan reporting from the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in Lower Manhattan. Brynn Gingras will provide real-time reports from the memorial service.
John Berman and Sara Sidner will also contribute from New York. Brian Todd will report from Washington, D.C., while Danny Freeman will cover events in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Fox News
Fox News will feature live coverage across its television and streaming platforms. Fox & Friends will broadcast from the Hyatt House in Jersey City, with Steve Doocy reporting from Ground Zero.
Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino will report from Brookfield Place overlooking the former World Trade Center campus. On FOX Nation, Harris Faulkner will host Born on 9/11: 25 Years with Harris Faulkner, which examines the lives of people born on September 11, 2001.
