ESPN Reaches Multi-Year Extension To Carry TGL

"Despite a 2% drop in viewership from year one to year two, the multi-year agreement was reached with hopes for a rebound in year three."

Date:

ESPN will remain TGL’s home for years to come. TMRW Sports has renewed its carriage deal for the tech-based indoor golf league, which starts its third season in December.

What We Know: According to a report by Sports Business Journal, TGL’s first two seasons aired across ESPN networks, including ABC. Similarly, that arrangement should continue under the new multiyear pact. Season 3 begins Sunday, December 27, and last year’s opener also aired on a Sunday afternoon on ABC.

What’s At Stake: Despite a 2% drop in viewership from year one to year two, the multi-year agreement was reached with hopes for a rebound in year three. The TGL events feature some of the most high-profile names in golf, and averaged 488,000 viewers across its 2026 season.

What Remains Unclear: TMRW hasn’t released a broadcast schedule, though the full Season 3 slate should arrive later this month. As a result, it’s unclear whether Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods and others will return for another season. The star power of TGL is what led to increased viewership. For example, last year Woods’ presence drew the highest viewership ahead of the four-match playoff which averaged 618,000 viewers across ESPN and ESPN 2.

What It Means: Ultimately, ESPN locks in a property with late-season momentum from an impressive playoff viewership perspective. The league is driven off the unique way in which it presents the game. More arena and party over the quiet and prestige of the traditional game. Moreover, the renewal follows WTGL’s carriage deal with ESPN and Scripps Sports-owned ION.
